These past few weeks have been so unreal. I keep waiting to wake up from this bad dream. But I know better.
I have done so much research on oligodendrogliomas, that I actually know how to spell it. The oncologist was super positive, which made me mad. I knew enough about my type of brain tumor to know that he was giving me false hope. He made it like it may be fully removed and then we do not have to worry about it. From the research I have done, that is sceniro is so rare. I feel by saying the tumor is bengin people do not understand how bad it is. I know that it will cause my death, I just dont know when. I understand that this oncologist treats mainly pedatric clients, but I feel I was cheated the real (scary) details. I am still getting a 2nd and 3rd opinion from other doctors.
Out of all the things that I feared and tried to prevent cancer was hardly ever on my mind. My family has a history of many diseases and I always (half) joked how I have horrible genes. But my fears were dementia, strokes, diabieties, celiac disease... not cancer. Only one family member has had cancer and it was pancreatic cancer which is not highly genetic. For the past 3-4 years Ive been trying to stay healthy through my diet and exposure to chemicals, yet not to prevent cancer. To think that this tumor has been in my body this whole time. This whole time that I have been eating healthy, taking vitamins and supplements, taking yoga, meditating, and changing my beauty products. I stopped using all products that contain chemicals not knowing that I already bad a brain tumor. I find it to be a bit ironic. Yet as my boyfriend reminds me who knows how bad it could have been if I didnt do those things. That has helped me get back on course. I have been researching nutrition related to cancer and tumors in general. Luckily since I am not on the SAD I do not have a long way to go. I continue to try to remain positive though this. I will enjoy my (no matter how much I have left) and stay focused on healing my body. I will not forget the environment as it is a big part of who I am. Hopefully it will make a difference for me and mother earth.
Initally I did not want to tell anyone of my diagonsis, but as I do more research I realize there is a need to tell. There is so little awareness and research on brain tumors. I read somewhere that brain cancer is the orphans of cancer and I see that. So i decided I will tell people, maybe it will make a difference somewhere.
