Freeze Tag

Since my last post, I went to NYU.  They made me have another week long VEEG.  They promised to be "aggressive" in causing a seizure.  They took me off my meds, deprived me of sleep and even let me have a beer!!  Of course no seizure, not even an aura.  I did catch up on some paperwork though.  I am not surprised that I did not have a seizure.  Out of all the seizures I have had not one was laying in bed.  They are almost always at work.  They are also when I am physically and emotionally stressed.  I was neither in the hospital.  Alcohol has only caused 2 seizures and that was pre-op and without meds.  I knew the beer would not work, but it was yummy.  They had a neuropsych resident do more testing.  I did not see a point in it, but I was bored and he needed the training so I agreed.  I was fine with my experience at NYU, as I was updated on everything and was seen by good doctors.  Except the last day MY MD did not come to see me.  I was discharged with vague follow up info.  They want me to do an ambulatory EEG.  This is where I stopped the process last time and of course I stopped again this time.
I thought maybe I was overreacting about not wanting to do another pointless test, but I was reassured by my regular neurologist.  She agreed that it was being done for the money over anything scientific.  Then she put it all in a different light.  This would be an epilepsy surgery, but also a tumor resection.  AH HAH!  So why am I running through the mill of "epilepsy surgery pretesting."  They know what is causing my seizures- a friggin TUMOR.  Of course they are not coming from other parts of my brain.  She recommended that I skip all the neuro/epi/NO suggestions and talk to a surgeon.  Why didnt I talk to her about all this before I headed to NYU?  She gave me a name of a neurosurgeon at Yale.  My NO also mentioned him.  I took the number 1 month ago, still I have not called.
In my heart I do not feel a need for surgery as my seizures (knock on wood) have been under control.  I can think of a zillion reasons why I might need it in the future, but I am not thinking of them now.  Now I have to deal with the medical bills piling up from my pointless VEEG.
