MRI Results

Yesterday I was getting ready for my first wedding food tasting when my neurologist called. Of course there was good news and bad news. This seems to always be the case with my health. I am grateful that there is even a bit of good news, but I am tried of the bad news. So the MRI showed residual tumor left in my brain. This was not a shock as the neurosurgeon made it clear that he did not think he got it all out. The good news is that my original pathologist agrees that the tumor is a DNT not an oligodendroglioma. I wonder if they really believe this or if they feel bullied by two more known hospitals. Anyway a DNT is supposedly a much better diagnosis then a glioma. They usually do not reoccur (yeah!) with full surgical removal (boo!). The conversation quickly moved to discussing my next surgery. I never thought I would need one brain surgery never mind two in a year. I need to go for another MRI to see where my vision fibers are. The surgeon stopped during the first surgery because he did not want to cut them. I could not get an appointment with the surgeon until February 11th. Now I am left wondering when I will be going back under the knife. I know they will say there is no rush because thats what they said about the first surgery. I have a great job interview this Wednesday and I do not know if I should even bother continuing the process. Karl and I are also making solid plans for our wedding. This all worries me. I finally got back to work and now I have to worry about leaving again. I just starting dealing with the effects of my surgery and now I need another one. I feel I recovered remarkably quick the first time and that it will not be that easy the second time around. I really lucked out not needing any rehab and leaving the hospital so quickly. I do not feel it is possible to have such an uncomplicated surgery twice. I had a little pity party for myself today, but now I am back to being thinking positively and getting ready to fight this stupid tumor. I hope I can get more information soon.
