Wow

So my mom randomly decided to tell me that her grandmother died of a brain tumor. Hmmm why did she never think this was relevant when I was going through all this neuro stuff. Everything in my family is always a big secret so I am not too surprised. I tried to get some info out of my mom, but it is almost impossible. I paid $12 and within one week NYC sent me her death certificate. I am not sure what I was expecting to find out. Seeing those words "cerebral tumor- glioblastoma multiforme" in black and white got me choked up. She was just one month shy of her 46th birthday. Her birthday was December 11th, just one day before mine (90 years apart). I am not sure why I wanted the death certificate, it does not give me any more information. I also got much more upset at seeing this then I anticipated, but I cannot stop looking at it. I feel a strange closeness to my great-grandmother that I never met. I know I cannot compare myself to her since she died in 1938, but it is eerily familiar. I am guess I am just over emotional with the upcoming surgery.
